Why Captain Waypoint

Living across borders is hard enough. Finding clear answers shouldn't be.

Wherever you call home and wherever life takes you next, Captain Waypoint brings order to the chaos of living across borders.

The problem

You're often on your own out there.

Whether you just moved or have been abroad for years, bureaucratic and digital red tape catches up with you. Most organizations work in silos and treat each other as competition, while quietly sharing the same goal: actually helping people abroad. You end up piecing the answer together yourself. That costs time, energy, and trust.

  • Government information is fragmented across dozens of portals, ministries, and languages.
  • Expat forums and group chats contradict each other. Replies are out of date as often as they are right.
  • Every situation is different. Taxes, passports, healthcare, benefits, voting. The list raises more questions than it answers.
The answer

Captain Waypoint brings order to the chaos.

We make official information understandable, personal, and actionable. No jargon, no endless search, no guessing which forum post is current. Just the clearest next step for your situation, anywhere in the world.

  • The Captain translates complex cross-border rules into clear next steps, tuned to your country, situation, and timeline.
  • Answers are grounded in 700+ verified sources. Updated daily, so what you read today still holds tomorrow.
  • When a question goes beyond what AI should decide, we hand off to a verified partner for a clear, personal answer.

Questions abroad

The questions that come up when borders do.

Pick a topic and a country. See how the same question gets a different answer depending on where you are. The Captain handles the long tail.

These answers are for demonstration only. They illustrate how the Captain walks you through a topic in the app, and do not contain real advice. Check official sources before acting.
Healthcare · NetherlandsAnswered by the Captain

How do I stay insured when I move abroad?

Open the Captain, tap Healthcare → Register with a Dutch insurer. Pick a Zvw-approved insurer from the list (VGZ, Zilveren Kruis, CZ, and more), then follow the 4-step signup. Do it within 4 months of arrival to avoid a back-dated premium. If you only work abroad short term, tap Check Zvw exemption on the same screen to request an S1.
